Obituary

L. D. Bucher, 74, Newton, father of Zella Thomas, Halstead, died December 31, 1990 at his home in Newton.

Mr. Bucher was born November 3, 1916 at rural Keota, Colorado, son of Thomas O. Bucher and Sadie Conley. He married Estelle Rebecca Thorne February 21, 1942 at Torrington, Wyoming. She died September 7, 1990. He was a retired Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, employee and a former Gibson and USD 373 employee.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; American Legion Post 213, Halstead; and the Men's Bowling Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He had been a resident of Newton for nearly 40 years, moving from Greeley, Colorado.

Other survivors: son, Thomas Bucher, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three daughters, Sadie Nelson, Mt. Vernon, Texas; Celesta Gaede and LDenna Jones, both of Newton; two brothers, Ortis Bucher, Molina, Colorado and Thomas Bucher, Denver, Colorado; sister, Zella Joyce, Laramie, Wyoming; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at Peterson's Runeral Home Chapel, Newton with the Rev. Dan Waters. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
