Abe W. Penner, 96, a Moundridge resident for the last five years, died May 30, 1991 at Moundridge Manor. Mr. Penner was born January 29, 1895 at Langdon, North Dakota, the son of Peter and Kathryn Wiens Penner. He was a retired farmer who had moved to Moundridge from Winton, California. He married Adina Esau at Hillsboro on April 29, 1922. She died August 24, 1946. He later married Lena Esau Smith on June 24, 1962 at Halstead. She survives.

Mr. Penner was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Moundridge.

Other survivors include two sons, Edward Penner, Leland, Mississippi and Richard Penner, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; daughter, Juanita Buerge, Ithaca, Michigan; stepson, Richard Smith, Wichita; a stepdaughter, Leona Smith, Mariposa, California; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Services were held Monday at the church with ministers Kennethh Koehn and Doyle Johnson presiding. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
