Martha (Wedel) Koehn

Martha Koehn, 93, retired Halstead Nursing Center LPN died Friday, September 9, 2011 at Buhler Sunshine Home. She was born January 29, 1918 near Galva to Jacob and Susie Buller Wedel.

She was a Halsted resident siince 1947 prior to moving to Buhler in 2007. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Halstead. She loved nursing and had a special gift in caring for others.

She married Elton S. Koehn at Topeka on October 14, 1944. He preceded her in death.

Survivors: sons; Steve Koehn, Portland, Oregon; Rob (Carol Elkins) Koehn, Walton; daughters, Judy (Steve Howell) Pauls and Kathy (Mick Groom) Koehn, all of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by brothers; Alpha, Alvin, Orpha, Milford, Eldon, Brinton and Marvin Wedel and sisters, Ella Pankratz and Frieda Becker.

Memorial service was Tuesday September 13 at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
