Buller, Fred

Halstead Independent

Fred Buller, 75, a resident of Halstead since 1921, died Monday, May 25, 1993 at Memorial Home for the Aged, Moundridge. He was born July 6, 1917 at Montezuma, son of Benjamin and Susie Unruh Buller. He married Lois Akers September 27, 1939 at Newton. She died Febrtuary 26, 1988.

He was a member of the Halstead American Legion and the VFW. He was a World War II Navy Veteran.

He was a carpenter for the Santa Fe Railroad until he began the operation of Freddie's Cafe in Halstead in the mid 1950's, which he operated until 1967. He then worked for Sooter's and Legg Co., both of Halstead. After his retirement from Legg, he continued to do carpenter work until his health failed.

He is surved by his companion, Ada Unruh, Newton; two brothers, Jake Buller and Eugene Buller, both of Eugene, Oregon; and a sister, Gladys Spencer, Newton. He was preceded in death his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Unruh and Agnes Haur.

Services will be held May 27 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
