Obituary

Clay R. Anderson, 33, Newton, died Monday, January 1, 1996 at Via Christi-St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born October 23, 1962 at Newton, the son of Phil III and Jan Gray Anderson. He was co-owner of Anderson Healthcare in Newton. He was a 1981 grduate of Newton High School and a 1985 graduate of Emporia State University. He was employed at Hill's Apothecary, Emporia, for 8 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Newton; Leadership Emporia, 11989; Emporia Sports Promotion Inc., Chairman 1989; President of the Emporia State Alumni Association, 1993-1994; Newton Area Chamber Board; Leadership Newton Chairman, 1992-1993; Harvey County United Way Volunteer, 1991-1995; Newton High School Booster Club Board Member, 1992-1993; Youth of Newton Member, 1992-1994 and a present member of the Bethel College Advisory Board.

He married Virginia E. Akers at Newton on June 2, 1984. She survives: other survivors: two daughters, Emily Marie and Erica Mae Anderson, both of the home; his parents, Phil III and Jan Anderson, Newton; two brothers, Milt Anderson and Murray Anderson, both of Newton.

Memorial service will be January 4 at First Baptist Church, Newton. A private graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service.

Memorials have been established with the National Teachers Hall of Fame, and with the Newton High School Athletic Hall of Fame, both in care of Broadway Colonial Home, Newton.
