Emmett Samuel Avery

Emmett S. Avery, 71, Hutchinson, died Saturday, February 1, 1997 at Columbia Halstead Hospital. He was born January 20. 1926 at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, the son of Travis and Anna Evans Avery. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he retired in 1976 aafter 28 years with Cargill Salt and again in 1989 from USD 308.

He was a life member of the American Legion and a U. S. Navy vetean of World War II.

On October 23, 1943, he married Viola M. Zumalt at Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors: three sons, Emmnett E. Avery, Littleton, Colorado; Guery D. Avery and Dennis D. Avery, both of Hutchinson; daughter, Joyce D. Stewart, Hutchinson; brother, Henry Avery, Clark Grove, Minnesota; three sisters, Myrtle Robinson, June Peterson and Doris Swenson, all of Hutchinson; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside service was Feb 4 in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, Kansas.
