Obituary

James Howard Bridgman, 81, Newton, father to Nancy Koehn, Halstead, died Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at Halstead Hospital in Halstead. He was born November 16, 1915 at Exeter, Missouri, the son of Charles E. and Opal E. Smith Bridgman. He was a locomotive engineer for 43 years for Santa Fe Railway. He was a past member of the Newton Elks, Newton Masonic Lodge 142, Wichita Consistory, Harvey County Shriners and a 32 degree Mason. On February 14, 1939, he married Charlene May Irby Sanner in Wichita. Other survivors: son, James G. Bridgman, Mission; three grandchildren and two treat grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Jess. Services will be Thursday, February 20, 1997 at Peterson Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cenetery, Newton. Memorials to American Cancer Society or Central Home Care and Hospice.
