Mary Alice Baker, 80, Burrton, mother to Lenora E. Slaven of Burrton, died Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at Halstead Hospital. She was born December 17, 1917 at Manhattan, the daughter of C. E. and Rosy E. Kalb Curtiss. A area resident since 1933, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Full Gospel Church, Hutchinson and a Daughter of Foreign Wars.

Survivors: two other daughters, Lela R. Fisher, Hutchison; Alice M. Pugh, Wichita; brother, Johnnie C. Curtiss, Newton; sister, Clara M. Smith, Newton; ten grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kenneth W. Nichols and sister, Frances E. Johnston.

Funeral was Saturday, December 5 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with Rev. Betty Pinkston presiding. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Memorials to American Cancer Society.
