Wilbur B. Tendick, 85, Newton, formerly of Halstead, died Saturday, September 19, 1998 at Newton Medical Center, Newton. He was born May 18, 1913 at Halstead, the son of Wiley Godfrey and Mattie Catherine Ealy Tendick. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in agriculture. He farmed in Kismet County for many years, was with the Soil Conservation Service in Sedgwick and Harvey counties from 1947 to1949, and worked in the Liberal Post Office for 12 years, retiring in 1978.

He belonged to Salen Methodist Church and the Church's Fellowship Class, the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 A.F. and A,M., and was a former member of the Newton Nomad Camping Club, all of Newton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On December 25, 1943, he married Catherine Hardin at Fillmore, Missouri. She survives.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Tendick, Raymond Tendick and Harold Tendick and a sister, Ruth Rose.

Services were September 22 at Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Rev. C. Kent Rogers presiding. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
