Woodbury, Ernestine

Ernestine "Ernie" Woodbury, 72, Emporia, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at a Prairie Village hospital.

Mrs. Woodbury was a co-owner and operator the Phil Woodbury Radio and Television in Store in Emporia for many years.

She was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Burrton, the daughter of Glen and Mabel Coil. She graduated from Burrton High School and Emporia State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Mrs. Woodbury was a member of the Women's City Club, Beta Sigma Phi and many civic organizations. She also was a candidate for state senator from Lyon County in 1992.

She married Philip Lee Woodbury in 1949 in Burrton. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Craig Woodbury, Topeka; two sisters, Virginia Newton, Hemet, Calif., and Martha Coil, Halstead; and a granddaughter.

Relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. A graveside service will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Zoo in Emporia or to Friends of Art and sent in care of the funeral home.
