Florence L. (McGinn) Stites

Florence L. McGinn Stites, 86, Sedgwick, died Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Mount Hope Nursing Center in Mt. Hope. She was born November 9, 1912 at Sedgwick, the daughter of John and Margaret O'Keefe McGinn. A lifelong resident of Sedgwick, she was a medical records clerk at Haltead Hospital.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead; Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268 Auxiliary; Athena Club and Federated Women's Club, all of Sedgwick.

On September 17, 1938 she married Douglas Page Stites at Wichita. He died August 12, 1976.

Survivors: two sons, William Stites, Seattle, Washington and Dr. Robert Stites, Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Patricia Stites, Mt. Hope; Judy Kuhn, Overland Park and Marsha Hook, Sedgwick; three sisters, Irene McGinn, Newton; Betty Jean Hanna, Newton and Lois Miller, Kansas City, Missouri; 12 grandchidren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Stites, grandson, Kevin Ames and brother, Samuel McGinn.

Funeral mass was Tuesday, October 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead with Father Francis Cox presiding. Rosary was Monday at Kaufman Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Newton.
