Brandenberger, Mattie F. (Peck) Taylor

Mattie F. Taylor (Peck) Brandenberger, youngest child of Alexander and Sarah Peck was born February 5, 1868 at Cincinnatti, Ohio and passed away at her North Hollywood California home on March 5, 1951. Her husband, Gus Brandenberger had passed away on March 3, 1951 and she died suddenly while in the process of making arrangements to return her husband's body back to Halstead for Burial.

She came to Wichita with her parents, two sisters and two brothers. The death of her Mother made it necessary for her to make her home with her sister and later at the age of nine, coming to the Bentley Community where she made her home with the Tom Williams family until her marriage to Robert H. Taylor of the Centennial Community on October 10, 1895.

They located on a farm in the Centennial community and to this union two children were born, M. Pearl and Roscoe R. Taylor.

Mr. Taylor passed away on February 14, 1915 and she continued to live with her son Roscoe on the farm until he was married. Then she lived a few years with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Hansen.

On August 16, 1928, she was married to Mr. Gus Brandenberger in Newton, Kansas. They moved to his home in North Hollywood, California.

As a young girl she became a member of the Methodist Church and remained so until her death, only two days after the death of her husband. She was 83 years and one month old.

Survivors: daughter, Pearl Hansen, Sedgwick; son, Roscoe Taylor, Hutchinson; grandchildren; Mrs. Helen Rader, Mrs. Vera Mae Pike, Harold Hansen and Mrs. Donna May Foster. Also seven great grandchildren.

Burial was iin Halstead Cemetery.
