Gus Brandenberger was born November 16, 1865 in Germany. He came with his parents to the Halstead community when he was seven years old. Farming near Halstead, he retired and then moved to Hollywood, California in 1919. He died March 3, 1951 at his home in Hollywood California.

He was the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Lueffel Brandenberger. On April 8, 1890 he married the former Carrie Redinger. He continued his occupation as a farmer until 1906 when he retired and moved to California. His wife, Carrie passed away on December 20, 1926 in California.

To them were born five daughters and four sons. Preceding him in death at the time of his wife, Carrie's death, were two daughters, Marie at the age of 3 months in 1897; Mrs. Augusta Baumann in 1928 and one son, Emiel in 1916 at the age of 12.

He then married Mrs. Mattie F. Taylor in 1928 to whom he was married for 23 years.

Survivors at the time of his wife's Mattie's death, are: Mrs. Harry Albrecht of Halstead; Mrs. Adolph Brandenberger, Halstead; Mr. Louie Brandenberger, Mt. Hope; Mrs. Bertha Wolfe of Monmouth, Oregon; Mrs. Josephiine Peterson, North Hollywood, California; and Mrs. Fred Brandenberger of Sedgwick, also one sister, Mrs. Louise Hansen of Halstead; 15 grandchildren.

Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
