Obituary

Vernon Birkle, 63, Marion, step-father of Janice Morgan, Bentley and Cathy Snyder, Halstead, died June 13, 2001 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born November 26, 1937 at Hillsboro, son of Solomon and Doris Kasper Birkle. A graduate of Lehigh High School, he was a retired engineer after 36 years with the Santa Fe Railroad.

He belonged to American Legion Wayne G. Austin Post; the Eagle's Lodge and CJ's morning coffee group, all of Newton.

He married Juanita Suffield on June 21, 1955 at Marion. She survives. Other survivors: three daughters, Tamera Boyd, Temple, Texas; Denise Feger, Newton and Yvonne Hutchinson, Nacogdoches, Texas; stepson, John Beeson, Newton; one other stepdaughter, Vivian Smith, Wichita; two brothers, John Birkle, Newton and Tom Birkle, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were June 16 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton with Rev. C. Kent Rogers presiding. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.
