Katharine J (Nelligan) Lasiter

Katharine J. Lasiter, 71, Stockton, California, Halstead native, died Monday, September 30,2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sacramento. She was born September 25, 1931 in Halstead, the daughter of William and Katharine Roberts Nelligan. She graduated from Halstead High School in 1949. While attending grade school and high school, she was active in both the vocal and instrumental music department, performing many vocall sols, clarinet solos and was a member of the high school clarinet quartet, earniing numerous highly superior fatings at state music contests.

Following graduation from the University of Kansas in 1953, she was a kindergarten teacher in the Stockton Unifed School District for 38 years. She had been a member of both the First and Lincoln Presbyterian churches in Stockton. She was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors: her husband, Loren of the home; son, Jon Lasiter, Stockton; brother, William Nelligan, Damascus, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Gina Lasiter, Stockton; four grandchildren, Emily, Grace, Joshua and Diane; step-son, Nelson Lasiter, DDS, Las Vegas, Nevada; step-daughter, Vivian Smith, Ithaca, New York; sister-in-law, Dorothy Nelligan, Damascus, and three nephews, Richard, Arthur and Mark Nelligan.

A memorial service is scheduled this week in Stockton. Interment will be at a later date in the Halstad Mausolcum.
