Woodrow Wilson Hughes, 89, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at his home in Halstead. He was born October 23, 1912 at Halstead, son of Elmer M. and Bernice M. Moots Hughes. He was a retired truck driver for Russell Ralph Bridge Construction.

He married Madge Lillian Hartzell October 14, 1939 at Hutchinson. She died December 13, 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead.

Survivors: son, Richard Hughes, Burrton; daughter, Barbara Stout, Halstead; sister, Evelyn Miller, Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Hughes; daughter, Beverly Krueger; two brothers, Herman Hughes and Melvin Hughes and six sisters, Edna Fleetwood; Loreva Berger;Eileen Zimmerman; Ruth Jamieson; Dorothy VanTuyl and Faye Adolph.

Services wer h eld April 16 at Kaufman Funeral Home. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
