Obituary

Jonas D. Buller, 89, Moundridge, former Halstead resident, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Moundridge Manor in Moundridge. He was born October 2, 1913 at Goltry, Oklahoma, son of D. C. and Elizabeth Becker Buller.

He was a long time resident of Halstead until 1999 when he moved to Moundridge. He was a retired farmer and elevator manager of Paxton Elevator, rural Halstead, and a feed mixer and grain cleaner at Farmer's Coop in Halstead.

On December 19, 1937 he married Bertha Mildred Wiggers at Halstead. She preceded him in death February 10, 1999.

He and his wife provided a home for 57 foster children over the years. He was a Halstead historian, recorded moisture in Halstead for the Harvey County Independent until he moved to Moundridge and was the recipient of the Halstead Old Settlers Life Time Achievement Award in 1996. He was a member of Grace Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead.

Survivors: two sons, Gerald Buller, Halstead and Leonard Buller, Lubbbuck, Texas; three daughters, Joan Unruh, Rio Verde, Brazil; Janice Stubby, Newton and Julie Becker, Halstead; two brothers, Reuben Buller, Halstead and Chris Buller, Newton; six sisters, Amanda Unruh; Edna Koehn; Ada Koehn; Helen Reimer and Hilma Dirks, all of Halstead;; Judy Koehn, Detroit, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Lee Buller; infant daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Buller and three brothers, Jim Buller, Aaron Buller and Irvin Buller.

Services were held March 11 at the Church. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
