The community was shocked and saddened New Year's night by the death of John Graham who died shortly after 9 o'clock following a sudden attack of illness. The cause of his death was not definitely determined but was believed to be either a heart attack of acute indigestion. He had not been ill, although he had complained of some discomfort during the day, and had just retired for the night when he was stricken.

Mr. Graham, who was 44 years old, as a lifetime resident of the Burrton community and for the past nine months had operated the Graham Service station on the highway, which he had bought from his brother, H. L. Graham. Before that time, he had worked ten years for an oil company and had lived in the community southwest of Burrton.

John A. Graham, the youngest son of John S. and Florence V. Graham, was born at Burrton on January 20, 1902 and departed this life at Burrton January 1, 1947 at the age of 44 years, 22 months 3 days.

He was married to Velma Hoskinson on December 15, 1923 and to this union one son, Darol Lee was born May of 1934.

He had been a member of the Burrton Methodist church since he was a young man and was a member of the Masonic and Woodman Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He leaves to mourn his passing the widow and son; two brothers, H. L. Spencer of Burrton; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hale, Hutchinson and Florence Curd of South America.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the Burrton cemetery.
