Chambeerlen, Lewis Daniel

Halstead Independent

Lewis Daniel Chamberlen, son of Rosanna and Joab B. Chamberlen, was born in Huntington County, Indiana on February 14, 1867 and passed away February 18, 1949. Lewis came to Kansas as a young man of twenty in 1887. He was one of seven children. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He was 82 years old.

He married Mary Taylor on February 22, 1889 in Halstead. They lived in Edwards county during seven years of their married life, then returned to this vicinity and settled on the farm known as the Taylor Homestead, one half mile east of the Centennial Methodist Church until August 1946. This homestead was homesteaded by Mrs Chamberlen's parents in an early day.

They had no children. He is survived by his wife, nieces and nephews. Services were conducted from Kaufman Funeral home with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
