Jagt, Ethel A.

Harvey County Independent

Ethel A. Jaft, [Jagt]  87, Peabody, sister of Annie Troxel, Halstead, died March 6, 2004 at Bethesda Home, Goessel, Kansas. She was born September 8, 1916 at Sedgwick, daughter of George H. and Carrie V. Sills Woffenden.

She attended grade school at Cheter, Arkansas, later receiving her GED. A resident of Peabody, formerly of Newton, she was a nanny and housekeeper. She also worked as a riveter for Boeing Military Aircraft Co., Wichita; a clerk at Woolworth Storres, Newton and a cook for the public school system. She taught Sunday school at various churches.

On September 19, 1954, she married Peter Phillip Jagt at Newton. He died May 29, 2003.

Survivors include; a son, Arnold L. Jagt, Peabody; daughter, Joyce Jagt, Highland, California; brother, Frank D. Woffenden, Corrales, New Mexico; another sister, Thelma Chamberlain, Newton; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Jagt and Wayne Jagt, daughter, Alice Jagt; 3 brothers, William Woffenden, Richard Woffenden and John Woffenden and sister, Jane Boese.

Graveside services were h eld March 9 at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas
