Bentura "Penny" Burns, 57, of Newton, mother of Nicole Willis of Halstead, died March 6, 2005 at her home. She was born July 14, 1947 at Newton, daughter of Gavino "Gabby" and Margaret Estrada Corona. She married John R. Burns January 9, 1971 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton, of which she was a member.

Her favorite pastimes included arts and craft work. She was talented at arranging flowers and enjoyed making Christmas ornaments. She and her husband shared the hobby of golfing and traveling.

Other survivors include her husband of the home; sons, Chris, Brian and Chad Burns, all of Newton, brother, Joe Corona, Wildwood, Missouri; her parents and 7 grandchildren.

Services were held at the Church on March 9. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton. Memorials to Hospice.
