Tom S. Collins, Halstead, died July 28, 2005 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation. He was born May 15, 1926 in Newton, son of Tom S. and Margaret Anderson Sadler Collins. Both preceded him in death.

He married Helen A. Boese on April 4, 1953 at Halstead. She survives.

He was a car inspector for ATSF Railway, Newton for 42 1/2 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231 both of Halstead. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 971, Newton.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific and Atlantic in World War II.

Other survivors: daughters, Margaret Argo and husband, Jack, Hutchison and Tommie Taylor and husband, Jake, Newkirk, Oklahoma; half-brother, Bill Richardson, Newton and grandchildren, Derrick Cline, Overland Park and Lacy Taylor, Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Services were held at the First United Methodist Church, Halstead. Burial was at Halstead Cemetery with a military service by the Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231 and VFW Post 971.
