Where Is The Fence?

Editor: I see in your locals of last week that your mind is considerably stirred up over what you purport to be my fence being in the middle of the road on the county line. Now Mr. Editor I don’t believe that you write this from any personal motive, but must be backed up by Harvey County. Now we don’t wish any trouble over this matter, but as the county of Reno backs me (and we are bigger than little Harvey), I shall maintain that the fence is not in the center of the road, but that the road is under the center of my fence.
Respectfully,
James A. Ivey

No trouble at all, Mr. Ivey, but if people judge from what one has to say about any thing, they would come to the conclusion that you are worse stirred up than we are, for you have said lots the most. We are not backed up by the county, as intimated. We rode by the corner and from all appearances your fence is on the line or in the middle of the road. If the road is out of place that explains it satisfactorily.
