Joseph Albert O'Grady

Dr. Joseph A. "Joe" O'Grady, M.D, 90, died November 29, 2006 at Hospice of Salina in Salina, Kansas. He was a retired physician and had lived at Kidron-Bethel in North Newton since 1992.

He was born April 13, 1916 at Beacon in Dutchess County, New York to Joseph and Alice Deegan O'Grady. On Aparil 10, 1944 he married Barbara Ann Swarner at St. Patricks Cathedral in New York City. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2000..

Josephh graduated from Holy Cross College and earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester. He served as an internist for the United States Navy.

He moved his family to Halstead in 1961 and practiced medicine a Hertzler clinic until his retirement in 1980.

He enjoyed spending time golfing, reading and sailing and spending time visiting with his family and friends.

He is survived by daughters, Barbara and Jerry Short of Bennington; Kathleen and Charlie Sheehan of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sons, Michael and Tereza O'Grady of Braganza, Brazil and Tom and Christy O'Grady of Laxahatchee, Florida; John and Vicki O'Grady of Buena Vista, Virginia; sisters, Alice Bauriloff of Beacon, New York and Jean Vincent of Bethany Beach, Delaware; 11 randchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Recuitation of the Holy Rosary was December 3 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel and Service was December 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
