Mary Etta (Coffman) Kinzer

MRS L.C. KINZER

Mary Etta Coffman was born May 10, 1868 in Champagne Co., Ill., and departed this life Nov. 19, 1954 at the home of her son, Fred Kinzer of Sedgwick after a lingering illness.

She was the daughter of Andrew J. and Josephine Coffman, being the third child of a family of twelve children, she came with her parents to Sedgwick County in 1873 and settled near the city of Sedgwick.

On Jan 1, 1889 she was united in marriage to L.C. Kinzer, who preceded her in death. To this union five children were born; four passed away in infancy. One son, Fred M. Kinzer, of Sedgwick, survives.

She is also survived by one grandson, Clarence Kinzer of Sedgwick, two grand daughters, Mrs. A.H. Biggs of Holgate, Ohio, Mrs. Robert Coombs of Bentley, Kan., three great grandsons, Bobby Combs, Alan and Mike Biggs, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Jones, Wichita, a brother William Coffman, Medicine Lodge, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kinzer was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Sedgwick and lived a true Christian life. During her long illness she expressed a marvelous faith in her Savior and wanted so much to go Home. Very often she used the first stanza of Jesus, Lover of my Soul as a prayer.

Jesus, Lover of my soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide.
Till the storm of life is past,
Safe into the haven guide,
O receive my soul at last.
