Obituary

Gerald E. Frazell, 76, retired Halstead High School teacher and coach, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Memorial home in Moundridge. He was born August 24, 1931 at Portis to Elmer D. and Florence E. Arend Frazell. On June 9, 1957 he married Lorene Small at Reading.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Halstead; College of Emporia Alumni Assoc. and a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

A coaching career that also included stints at Lucas and Florence, he coached three state championship teams and many individual champions in track and field at Halstead High School.

Survivors: wife, Lorene Frazell; son, Jeffrey Frazell, Potwin; daughter, Julie Freund, Mulvane; twin brother, Harold Frazell, Salina; sisters, Joann McMichael, Downs; Beulah Hulen, Moberly, Missouri and Dorothy Boyer; 7 grand children and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services were held at the church on April 16 with Revs Jennifer Whitt and Peter Hartman officiating. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
