Carl Martin Porter, 92, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009.  He was born to Michael & Lula McCarver Portere in Sonora, Arkansas.

 

He was retired from Boeing as a technical writer, however, he was a man with many professions; printer/publisher; school teacher; maintenance engineer of several manufacturing companies; farmer; dad, grandfather and great grandfather.  He graduated from college at Northeastern State Collete, Tahlequah, Oklahoma and later earned a Masters Degree from Wichita State University.  He had been a member of First Baptist Church, Sedgwick, involved with the Newton (Sedgwick) Masonic Lodge; Eastern Star; Sedgwick School Board and 4H leader.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William and daughter, Margaret Lu.

 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Reba Prince Porter; 3 sons, Michael of Valley Center; Martin of Frisco, Texas and Myron of Sedgwick; two daughters, Lila Taylor of Kansas City and Sharon Lopez of Shawnee; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchileren.

 

Services were held Janury 30 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center, with burial in Hillside Cemetery.
