Alvin Glenn Homewoood, 83, retired crane operator for Russell Ralph and King Construction, died Tuesday, July 24 at his residence.  He was born April 28, 1929 at Luray and was the first child born to Frank and Anna Reed Homewood.

 

He was a Halstead resident for 52 years and a member of First United Methodist Churcy, Halstead.  He was a retired crane operator and has worked side by side with his dad for the County of Russell and worked for Rhoes Construction in Newton.  He also worked for Russel Ralph in Halstead with his sons and King Construction of Hesston.

 

On May 22, 1949 he married Ada Lorraine Seirer at Lucas.  She died March 24, 2007.

 

Survivors::sons, Bob (Michelle) Homewood, Howe, Indiana; Tom Homewood, Sedgwick; Dan (Cathy) Homewood, Wichita; daughter, Terri (Don) McCall, Davenport, Oklahoma; Nancy (Doyle) Franzen, Goessel, Kansas; Debbie (David) Portlock, Halstead; brother; Gerald Homewood, Phoenix, Arizona; step-mother, Melba Homewood, Phoenix, Arizona; 23 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Homewood; brothers, Wendell and Earl Homewood and sister, Gloria Aman.

 

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28 at the Church.  Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery.
