Obituary

Beverly Sue (Melcher) Rutschman, 39, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away on Sunday (Sept. 16, 2012) at Hutchinson Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

 

Beverly was born on March 26, 1973, at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, the youngest of two daughters of Elvin and Betty Melcher. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1991 and attended classes at Hutchinson Community College. On Sept. 5, 1992, Beverly married Alan Rutschman at First United Methodist Church in Newton, and they made their home on a farm west of Hesston for nearly 20 years. Alan preceded her in death on March 31, 2012.

 

Beverly was a dental assistant for 20 years, during which time she worked for Dr. Pam McCullough of Newton, Dr. Mike Snowbarger of Moundridge, Dr. Brett Roufs of Newton, the Dental Corner in Moundridge and Wichita, and East Wichita Dentistry. Well-loved by her co-workers and friends, Beverly was happiest when taking care of the animals on the farm and tending to her garden and lawn.

 

She is survived by sons, Cory and Kyle of the home; her parents; sister, Kimberly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; aunt, Ann Melcher of Smith Center; uncle, Ralph Melcher of Lawton, Okla.; mother-in-law, Evlyn Rutschman; niece, Kaitlyn Rutschman; and nephew, Christopher Rutschman, all of Hesston; father-in-law, Wayne Rutschman of Moundridge; and sister-in-law, Valancy Harlow of Soco, Maine. She also was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Scott Rutschman; and grandparents, Elmer and Cora Melcher and Wayne and Esther Bliss.

 

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St. in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 22, 2012) at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave. in Newton, with burial following at Garden Community Church, 6520 N. Halstead Road in Hesston. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a fund established for Cory and Kyle Rutschman, in care of the Hesston branch of the First Bank of Newton.
