Donald L. Franz, 80, teacher, died Saturday, December 29, at Newton Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1932 at Liberal to Herman C. and Mary E. Fast Franz.
He taught science at Pleasant Valley Junior High in Wichita for over 30 years. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Halstead; Prairie Wind Daylily and Wichita Daylily Clubs.
On May 27, 1955 he married Joyce M. Loewen at Newton, she survives.
Other survivors: sons, Alan Franz and Tim Host, Dallas; daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Graham, Topeka; Sharon (Paul) Parker, Elmhurst, Illinois; sisters, Betty Jean Bodine, Shawnee; Mary Lou (Joseph) Duerksen, Roeland Park and 5 grand children.
A memorial service will be held at the Firsti Mennonite Church in Halstead on January 19, 2013 with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in Halstead Cemetery.
