Hilda Lou Thornbrugh, 87, died Friday, January 4, at Cottonwood Residential Care Home, Plano, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton January 12.
Mrs. Thornburg was born October 23, 1925 in Newton, daughter of Blanche Scantlin and Neal Wall. She graduated from Newton High School and lived most of her life in Newton.
She married Junior Thornbrugh on April 14, 1945 in Wichita , he preceded her in death July 5, 1999
.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and loved cooking and family gatherings.
The coupld lived in Newton where they raised their two children. She worked as a Tax Assessor for Harvey County, a salesperson at Graves Drugstore and an assembler at Beech Aircraft.
Survivors: sons, Steven Kent Thornbrugh, Powell, Ohio and Thomas Neal Thornbrugh, Plano, Texas; one sister, Helen Richardson, Atlanta, Georgia and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Hilma Schroedeer and Hazel Dick.
