William M. "Bill" Mathews, 82 died January 25, 3013 in Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born in Newton, April 10, 1930, son of Horace Niles and Cora Bayne Mathews. On December 6, 1957 he married Delores Jean Decker.
He worked for 17 years at Hesston Corporation as a welder and later worked 11 years for Eddie's Toyota in Wichita. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by sibblings; Elaine Davis, Horace Jr., Warren and Addis Mathews.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dee Mathews of their home; children, Catherine Friemiller and her companion, Dennis Edris of Humboldt; Erick and wife Diane Mathews of Wichita and Marlys Mathews of Littleton, Colorado; siblings; Glenna Stucky of Wichita; Merwyn Matthews of Manville, Oregon; Marilyn Matthews of Bel Aire; Loran Mathews of Astoria, Oregon and Larry Mathews of Newton; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Services will be at Swiss Church in Whitewater, Wednesday, January 30. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
