Irene M. Ratzlaff, 92, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Kidron Bethel Retirement Community in North Newton. She was born February 1, 1920 on the family farm near Moundridge to Frank and Lena Unruh Rudinger. Irene married Ervin Ratzlaff on March 10, 1943.
Irene was retired from United Printing Inc. in Newton. She loved cooking, gardening and sewing, that included fancy needle work, crocheting and quilting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Deb) Ratzlaff; grandchildren, Jared and Jenna of North Newton; sister, Doris Decker, Hernado, Mississippi; brother, Galen Rudiger, Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry, husband, Ervin; sisters, Francis Nickel, Susie Decker, Pauline Smith; and second husband, Don Bartel.
Visitation will be January 1 8 at Petersen Funeral Home. A graveside service will be January 29 at Restlawn Gardens of Memory followed by a celebration of her life at First Mennonite Church. Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
