John Vernon Dick, 990, died February 16, 2013 at Gossell, Kansas. He was born January 4, 1923, son of Frank and Helen Ratzlaff Dick.
He was a member of Goessel Mennonite Church and was active in many church and civic activities. He also was very active as a historian and preservationist oof the Santa Fe Trail.
He married Evelyn Faye Lewis October 18, 942 which ended in divorce. He married LaVerna E. Buller February 14, 1998. She survives with sons, Gary (Cinda), Richard (Marsha) and Robert (Joyce); daughters, Ellen Boggs (Ralph), Karen Linn )Terry) and Carol Linn (Jerry); 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, grandson, Cameron Linn; brother; Clarence, David and Fred Dick; sisters, Clara Scherling, Anna Regierk, Minnie Stucky, Laura Vickel and Evelyn Dalke.
Graveside service will be February 23 in Burrton Cemetery. Memorials to Harden Hospice in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
