   Anna E. Huebert, 108, former teacher and librarian, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.  She was born July 21, 1904 on a farm northeast of Newton, daughter of John M. and Mary Andres Huebert.  Her father emigrated from Germany and her motheer emigrated from Russia.

  As a child, she attended Sunnyside Grade School northeast of Newton.  After graduating from Newton High School

she taught for more than 10 years at several schools in Harvey County before going on to college at Emporia State University.  After graduation, she accepted a position as librarian at Atchison High School, a position she held for 32 years until her retirement in 1972.  Anna returned to the Newton area in 1975.  She was the oldest member of First Mennonite Church and she attended regularly until health did not permit.  As a child, after doing her chores she did homework by kerosene lamp and later drove a buggy to high school.  As a teacher and librarian, she was loved by her  students.  She loved horses, covered bridges, reading her Bible, writing to friends and relatives and chocolate.

   Survivors: two nephews, John (VaRena) Huebert, Sedgwick and Robert (Dianne) Huebert, Port Orchard, Washington; one niece, Kathy (Arnie) Sandness, Wrangell, Alaska; one niece-in-law, Antonio (Henry, deceased) Hueber, Port Arthur, Washington;  10 great nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Margaret Warkentin; and two brothers, John and Henry Huebert.

   Services will be April 17 at Broadway Coilonial Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
