George Hurd, 76, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his Newton residence. He was born October 2, 1936 in Ft. Scott to George Hurd, Sr. and Hazel Foster Hurd. On August 12, 1966 he married Frances Allison. She preceded him iin death July 18, 2012. They started their married life in Cottonwood Falls before moving to Newton. George was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. He began working for Bunting Magnetics as a machinist in Newton in 1979 and retired in 2001. George enjoyed fishing, trap shootiing and spending time reading. He enjoyed his time at the Newton Area Senior Center. He was a family man.
Survivors: son, Ken and wife, Anita Allison, Newton; daughters; Kay and Don Schommer of Sedgwick and Pat Paquette and Debbie Allison, both of Newton; Peggy Carlson and husband Marcus and her family of Lincolnville; son Gary; sisters, Anita, Jan and Judy; grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 4 at the Church.Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.
