   Ernest Edgar "Ernie" Evans, 88, died November 28, 2013 at HospiceHouse in Hutchinson.  He was born September 12, 1925 in Bentley, the son of  Walter  W. and Laura Jane Fuller Evans.  He graduated from Bentley High School in 1943.  A World WW II veteran, he seved as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945.

   Ernie retired in 1990 as the director of Housekeepiing at the Halstead Hospital.  He was a longtime resident of Halstead, moving to Hutchinson in 2001.  He was a member of Eastwowod Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the American Legion Ruth Wilson Post #231 of Halstead, and was a past president of the Halstead Housing Authority.

   On July 28 1945 he married Barbara Helen Nachtigal in Wichita.

  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Evans; children, Sharrie Jo Clutts of Hutchinson; Dianne Mueller and husband Keith of Halstead, Mike evans and wife Sue of Hutchinson, Jill Guizlo and husband, Steve of Auburn Washington; 15 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elmer Eugene Evans, Earl Edward Evanns; sister, Edna Eunice Evans Warren and a grandson, Jeremy Mueller.

   Services were held at Elliott Chappel in Hutchison on December 3, 2013.  Burial was at Halstead following the servioce, with military honors conducted by the American Legion of Halstead.

   Memorials to  Halstead Ambulance Dept or Eastwood Church of Christ in Hutchinson.
