Hiebert, Ervin Lee

Harvey County Independent

   Ervin Lee Hiebert, 80, passed away December 6, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, trauma unit in Wichita, after a fall caused a skull fracturre.  He was born April 16, 1933 in rural Hillsboro to Ed and Agatha Hiebert.  He graduated from Goessel High School in 1951.

   On April 15, 1961 he married Bettye Hoskins of Newton who survives.  Other survivors: Wanda Green of Corpus Christi, Texas and Marilyn and husband William Wendling of Halstead.  He is also survived by four grandchildren,

five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, John and Emmalyn Hiebert of Beatrice, Nebraska; Henry and Eileen Dueck of Sho Low, Arizona; Lela and Richard Goertz of Saaint James, Missouri; Anna Mae and Floyd Janzen of Hesston; Mary and Jake Richert of rural Hillsboro and Susan and Irvin Voth of Goessel.

   He was preceded by his parent, step-mother, Susanna Hiebeert; his brother, Solomon and sisters, Sylvia Schmidt-Goertz and Velma Flaming.

   He worked in the mobile home industry for 43 years.  He came to Halstad in 1965, working for Skyline Corp, where he worked his way from line supervisor, to plant manager, and then general manager, before retiring in 1999.

   Ervin enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, watching his grndchhildrenn and great grandchildren's school and sports activities.  He also loved traveling, hunting and fishing.

   Burial was in Halstead Cemetery with a celebration of life in the Halstead Mennonite Church.
