Vera C. Unruh, 93, died Thursday, November 7, 20113 at Newton Medical Center. She was born February 3, 1920 in Buhler to George W. and Mary Dick Matthies. On June 11, 1941 she married Otis Unruh in Halstead and he survives of the home.
Vera was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Newton and was a loving wife, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed croocheting and sharing her creations with friends and family and especially the MCC sale. She enjoyed crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. She and her husband both enjoyed the friends they have made at Kidron Bethel.
Survivors: two sons, Wayne (Laura) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Daryl (Cindy) of Newton; daughter, Sandra Gauthier of Glendale, Arizona; one brother, Lester Matthies of Cedar Edge, Colorado and one sister Mary Janzen of Newton; four grandchidren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A service of celebrationn will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the church. A Graveside committal service will be held at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, rural Newton, Kansas before the memorial service.
