Janlee Ruth Loewen Blosser
HESSTON -- Janlee Ruth Loewen Blosser,
50, of Hesston died Wednesday (April 15, 1998) at Via-Christi Medical
Center St. Francis Campus. She was associate professor of nursing and
interim director of the nursing department at Bethel College in North
Newton. She taught at Bethel College since 1981.
Blosser is survived by her husband,
John R. Blosser of Hesston. Other survivors include: two sons,
Christopher D. Blosser of Newton and Matthew J. Blosser of Hesston;
one daughter, Kirsten R. Blosser of Newton; father, Harry J. Loewen
of Mountain Lake, Minn.; step-mother, Mildred Loewen of Mountain
Lake, Minn.; and one sister, Velma J. Loewen of Normal, Ill. She was
preceded in death by her mother, Verna (Schroeder) Loewen.
Her professional affiliations included:
Bethel Deaconess Hospital and Bethel College Nursing Alumni
Association, honorary member; Sigma Theta Tau; Association of
Community Health Nursing Educators; Association of Women's Health,
Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses; District IV-Kansas State Nurses'
Association; American Nurses' Association; and Transcultural Nursing
Society. Her awards and honors were KSNA Excellence in Nursing
Continuing Education; Who's Who in American Nursing; tenure at Bethel
College and was a recipient of the Miller-Erb Nursing Development
Grant.
She completed post-graduate courses in
community health nursing and held a master's of nursing degree, both
from Wichita State University in Wichita, and a bachelor of science
in nursing from Goshen College in Goshen, Ind.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church. Friends may call from 7
to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
Memorials have been established with
the Janlee Ruth Loewen Blosser Outstanding Pediatric/Obstetric
Nursing Student Award Scholarship at Bethel College, Mennonite
Central Committee in Akron, Pa., and Kidney Research Foundation in
care of the funeral home.
