Lloyd Maxwell 'Chick' Jameson

WATONGA, Okla. -- Lloyd Maxwell "Chick" Jameson, 90, died Sunday (May 17, 1998) at Watonga.

He was born April 5, 1908, in Spring Hill to Frank Benson and Nellie (Holcomb) Jameson. He married Pearl Irene Getz in 1935 in Newton. She preceded him in death. He married Helen Irene Spriggs in September 1985. She also preceded him in death.

He lived in Spring Hill his first 12 years and then lived in Newton where he was a 1927 graduate of Newton High School. He moved to Enid, Okla., in 1932, where he worked as a salesman. He moved to Watonga in 1935 where he purchased and operated a chick hatchery for 25 years, after which he served as the postmaster. He also worked for Cimarron Electric in Kingfisher for 13 years and was a part-time car salesman for Ray Wright in Watonga.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Watonga where he served as elder and on the church board for several years. He also was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis, serving as president of both organizations as well as the church board chairman and also a member of the Oklahoma Poultry Improvement Association.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Jameson of Watonga, Okla., and Billy Jameson; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one infant sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Watonga with the Rev. Jim Forrest officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga.

Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church in care of Wilkinson Mortuary, 208 N. Noble, Watonga, OK 73772.
