Chester M Humphrey
    SALEM, Ore. -- Chester M "Uncle Bill" Humphrey, 76, retired cannery production manager, died Monday (June 15, 1998) in Salem, Ore.
    He was born July 22, 1921, in Newton. He moved to Salem from Newton in 1962. A World War II veteran, he was an active member of the American Legion Capitol Post #9 in Salem.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen F. Humphrey, in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Zella Humphrey, one brother, Lewis Humphrey Sr., and two sisters, Flossie Banner and Betty Bond.
    Survivors include four sons, David Breneman, Paul Breneman, Lynn Breneman, all adopted, and Stanley Humphrey, four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
    A private interment was held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, Marion County Unit, 161 High Street S. E. Suite 208-C, Salem, OR 97301, in care of Virgil T. Golden Funeral Home.
