Rev. Carl Brooks Jr., 71, 83 Country
Club Estates, died Tuesday (June 23, 1998) at Halstead Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1927, in Garnett
to Carl Brooks Sr. and Eva (Gregg) Brooks. He married Helen Musser on
Feb. 14, 1987, in Wichita. She survives.
He was a missionary seven different
times in Russia, six times in Haiti and organized churches in Newton,
Attica, Parsons and was the Pastor of numerous other churches in
Kansas.
Other survivors include: three
daughters, Barbara Treaser of Wichita, Pam York of Michigan, and Gail
Redford of Winfield; four step-daughters, Joyce Blunck of Sedgwick,
Judy Walker of Harding, Neb., Marcia Boone of Wichita and Bonnie
Austin of Spokane, Wash.; five brothers, George Brooks of Wanatchee,
Wash., Herb Brooks of Pamona, Leonard Brooks of Tacoma, Wash., Alvin
Brooks of Gouverneur, N.Y., and Don Brooks of Quenemo; one sister,
Shirley Miller of Wanatchee, Wash.; and a number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Wichita with Pastors Steve
Day of the church and S. Clyde Billingsley Jr., of Southgate Baptist
officiating. Burial will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in
Wichita.
Friends may call from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Funeral Home Newton
and 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Hillside Funeral Home East in Wichita.
