Clara Cooprider

HESSTON -- Clara Cooprider, 97, homemaker, died Sunday (June 28, 1998) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born Nov. 1, 1900, in Harrisonburg, Va., to C. D. and Lydia (Wenger) Showalter. She married Henry Cooprider on Feb. 3, 1920. He preceded her in death in 1975.

She moved to McPherson County in 1910. In 1975 they moved to Hesston. She was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church.

Survivors include: one son, James Cooprider of McPherson; one daughter, Joyce Cook of Hesston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Graveside services and burial will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at West Liberty Cemetery near Inman. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston with the Revs. Cheryl Hershberger, Ann Showalter and Mary Dyck officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schowalter Villa Chapel.

Memorials have been established with Schowalter Villa in care of Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
