Robert Abel Clarke

TERLINGUA, Texas -- Robert Abel Clarke, 68 of Terlingua, Texas, retired law enforcement officer after 40 years, died Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1998) at Newton Medical Center.

He was born May 15, 1930, in Wharton, Texas, to Fred Webster and Cora (Sanders) Clarke. He married Melody Heidebrecht, formerly of Newton, Jan. 1, 1980, in Richmond, Texas. She survives of Terlingua.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Texas Law Officers' Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement Association. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1955. Other survivors include: one son, Robert A. Clarke Jr., of Illinois; two daughters, Kathryn Clarke Johnson of Texas and Kandi Clarke Brasseaux of Louisiana; one brother, F.W. Clarke Jr., of Texas; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. His body will be donated to the University of Kansas Medical School and Eye Bank.
