Clarence T. Baxter
Clarence T. Baxter, 94, 200 S.W. 14th,
retired owner and operator of Service Station and was previously
employed at the Newton Ice Plant, died Sunday (Nov. 22, 1998) at
Friendly Acres Retirement Community.
He was born Dec. 21, 1903, in Horton to
William Earl and Louisa May (Hysom) Baxter. He married Nettie Pearl
Watkins June 13, 1920, in Newton. She preceded him in death April 30,
1992.
He was a member of the Newton Masonic
Lodge No. 142 AF & AM, Modern Woodman and 50 years in Blue Lodge.
He lived in Horton, Emporia and Hutchinson.
Survivors include: three sons, Donald
E. Baxter of Baton Rouge, La., Howard Baxter of Newton and Robert E.
Baxter of Branson, Mo.; one sister, Hazel Payne of Suisun City,
Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also
was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Baxter.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman from
First Christian Church officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
donors choice in care of the funeral home.
