Dorothy P. Lemanton

Dorothy P. Lemanton, 77, 200 S.W. 14th, homemaker, died Monday (March 1, 1999) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community.

She was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Oquawka, Ill., to Orville C. and Ethel M. (Zimmerman) Whitmore.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. She enjoyed reading and writing.

Survivors include: four sons, Steve Wagner of Burlington, Iowa, Michael Lemanton and Darrin Lemanton, both of Newton and Dale Lemanton of Carson, Iowa; four daughters, Dana Smith of Council Bluff, Iowa, and Dona Lezehr, Ashley Tee and Debby Lemanton, all of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Bud Whitmore of Sylvia, Ill., and Keith Whitmore of Las Vegas; two sisters, Joyce Whitmore and Betty Tee, both of Burlington, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Charles Lemanton.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness with Shawn Taylor officiating. Memorial book signing will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Friendly Acres Retirement Community in care of the funeral home.
