Agnes S. Schmidt

Agnes S. Schmidt, 84, formerly of Walton, homemaker and former school cook at Walton for many years, died Thursday (March 4, 1999) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton, where she had been a resident since August 1994.

She was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Marion County to Jacob G. and Susanna (Goossen) Hiebert. She married Theodore (Ted) R. Schmidt June 15, 1940, in rural Goessel. He survives of Newton.

She was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

Other survivors include: one son, Bob G. Schmidt of Osage City; one daughter, Janice E. McAllister of Newton; one sister, Edna Hiebert of Walton; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Joan Schmidt.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabor Mennonite Church with the Rev. Corey Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.

Memorial has been established with Tabor Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
