Ona Mengerhausen

Ona Mengerhausen, 94, 608 W. 13th, homemaker, died Friday (March 5, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 12, 1904, in rural Stillwater, Okla., to Jesse and Bell Whittaker. She married Karl H. Mengerhausen May 30, 1929, at Presbyterian Church in Wichita. He preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1988.

She was a member of First Missionary Church in Newton. She attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She taught Elementary School around the Stillwater, Okla. area.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing crafts, collecting cards and photos.

Survivors include: one daughter, Rita O'Neal of Newton; two grandsons, Randy O'Neal of Peabody and Roger O'Neal of Newton; and four great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Ralph Mengerhausen, Paul Mengerhausen and John Mengerhausen; one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Missionary Church with Pastors Ray Adams and Dan Quinlin officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Fairview Cemetery in Greensburg. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with First Missionary Church in care of the funeral home.
