Robert W. 'Bob' Rostetter

DODGE CITY -- Robert W. "Bob" Rostetter, 61, owner and operator of Service Station and Auto Sales, died Sunday (March 7, 1999) at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

He was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Newton to Dr. G.A. and Christine Ann (Vogts) Rostetter. He married Carol A. Prouty Sept. 28, 1957, in Hesston. She survives of Dodge City.

He was a member of United Brethren Evangelico Church in Hesston, Order of Eastern Star No. 97 and St. Bernard Lodge No. 222 AF&AM, both of Dodge City, and Midian Temple Shrine, Wichita Consistory Scottish Rite and Camel Herders, all of Wichita. He attended First Missionary Church in Dodge City.

He was a graduate of Moundridge High School and attended Hesston College for three years. He was past owner and operator of South Dodge Phillips 66, the Turn-A-Round, South Gas-N-Go, Affordable Auto Sale and Bob's Auto Service and Repair, all of Dodge City. He previously worked at Dave Gambill Chevrolet as a service manager and at Montgomery Wards as appliance manager, both of Dodge City.

He was past president Dodge City Shrine Club Clowns, Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Demolay Advisor, Boy Scout Master, Kansas Independent Auto Dealers Association, National Independent Auto Dealers Association and National Guard in Newton.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Rostetter of Dodge City; two sons, Tim Rostetter and Todd Rostetter, both of Dodge City; one brother, Jim Rostetter of Newton; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Rostetter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Missionary Church in Dodge City with Robert Shelton and the Rev. James E. Hossler officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City with Masonic Graveside Rites.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City.

Memorials have been established with The Robert W. Rostetter Grandchildren Education Fund in care of Sunflower Bank, 2408 First Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.
